This morning, Tasnim Shamma of WABE reported on a 10,000-person survey by the LA-based firm Comparably. Female survey respondents working in Atlanta’s technology sector reported earning as much as 72% less than male tech sector workers surveyed. Jacqueline Plair Rushin of Women in Technology was interviewed for the piece.
“I’ve personally seen more women come into technology, but I’ve also seen them leave,” Rushin said. “And where you typically see them though is at the lower echelons. As you start going up the ladder, you see that getting more narrow.”
Spelman’s CPI committee seeks to address this disparity by preparing young women to assume leadership positions in this and other employment sectors.
