Our Senior, Sociology Major and Public Health Minor from Boston, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Halle experienced a 2-part summer as she took over Ghana for two weeks! She spent time at the University of Ghana immersed in courses on Intercultural Engagement, Twi Language Survival, Kinship and Inheritance Systems in Ghana, and Pan-Africanism. When she returned, she entered into the UNCF\/Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Summer Institute at Emory University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship program aims to increase the number of talented, intellectually engaged undergraduates who plan to enroll in PhD programs within the humanities, designated sciences, and social science disciplines. She had the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors, and sharpen her research writing and presentation skills. In fulfillment of the institute, Halle completed a research prospectus titled, &#8220;Not Birthing While Black: Exploring College Black Women&#8217;s Attitude toward Pregnancy and Birth amidst Black Maternal Mortality&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>We are extremely proud of Halle for using the summer to her advantage and making the most of her experiences before the start of her Senior year!<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Meet Halle Armstrong!
