The RISE Research Development Program is targeted towards returning upperclass students. During the academic year, the RISE Development Program provides opportunities for students to engage in paid research for 10 hours per week conducting biomedical or behavioral research.
Students are mentored by faculty in research labs at Spelman College or other Atlanta area institutions. Scholars have an opportunity to interact and network with scientists and other researchers through participation in weekly program meetings, lectures, research symposia, and conferences, designed to enhance preparation for graduate school.
Eligibility:
Students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year majoring in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, or psychology who previously participated in the RISE Program are eligible for the RISE Development Program. Additional eligibility requirements: (a) intend to go on to Ph.D.-level graduate work, (b) have a grade-point-average of close to 3.0, or better, and (c) US citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident.
