During the academic year, the RISE Development Program provides opportunities for students to engage in paid research for 10 hours per week conducting biomedical or behavioral research.
Students will be mentored by faculty in labs either at Spelman College or other area institutions. Participants will have an opportunity to interact and network with scientists and other researchers through participation in weekly program meetings, lectures, research symposia, and conferences, designed to enhance preparation for graduate school.
Eligibility:
Students in their freshmen, sophomore or junior year majoring in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, or psychology who have previous research experience and an intention to obtain a Ph.D. in one of the sciences, leading to a career in biomedical or behavioral research.

You are eligible for support by the RISE program if you (1) are majoring a STEM discipline or psychology, (2) intend to go on to Ph.D.-level graduate work, (3) have a grade-point-average of close to 3.0, or better, and (4) US citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident.
