
Jacquelyn Willis, senior biochemistry major was selected as a NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP) scholar. The scholarship provides up to $20,000 in education and living expenses. Additionally, she will receive a paid summer research opportunity and post-graduation will gain a year of employment as a NIH research trainee for each year the scholarship is received. Jacquelyn was one of fifteen students chosen this year from the nationwide applicant pool of 300. Her future goals include pursuing the MD/PhD dual doctoral degree and becoming a physician scientist. She aims to research the pathogenesis of pulmonary diseases with the hopes of creating therapeutic treatments. She also aspires to practice translational medicine, with a focus in underrepresented/low-income communities.
