The Final Chapter of RISE at Spelman College

After more than two decades of impact, leadership, and legacy, the RISE (Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement) Program at Spelman College has officially concluded. Designed to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing advanced degrees and careers in biomedical research, the RISE Program has proudly supported a generation of talented scholars who have gone on to excel in graduate programs, research institutions, and leadership roles across the country.

We are immensely proud of the students, faculty, staff, and partners who made this work possible. Through rigorous academic training, hands-on research experience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, RISE became a cornerstone of scientific empowerment at Spelman — one that will continue to inspire future innovation even as the program closes.

Although the program has formally ended, the impact of RISE will endure. Our alumnae continue to lead, mentor, and break barriers in STEM fields, embodying the mission and values that defined the program from its inception.

To all who contributed to the RISE legacy — thank you.
