Congratulations to the incoming class of 2028 Ethel Waddell Githii Honor Students. To begin your intellectual journey with the program, our community will be reading the following books this summer:
- You are Your Best Thing: Vulnerability, Shame, Resilience, and the Black Experience, eds. Tarana Burke and Brene Brown
- The Firebrand and the First Lady: Portrait of a Friendship, Patricia Bell-Scott
- All about Love: New Visions, bell hooks
There is no set reading schedule, so you may read at your leisure. This information can also be found in your email or you may download the letter here.
The Guide for Honors Students 2024 provides an in-depth breakdown of the program’s mission, “Good Standing” qualification, the curriculum, and a list of “Habit-of-Mind” activities to gain points.
Each semester the program will release a set of electives for the upcoming semester that can fulfill your requirement of two honor electives. The list can also be found in your Spelman emails: Electives-Fall 2023
