HipHopWarsIn Hip Hop Wars, Trisa Rose states, “Hip Hop is not dead, but it is gravely ill.”  She explores the most crucial issues underlying the polarized claims on each side of the debate:  Does hip hop cause violence, or merely reflect a violent ghetto culture?  Is hip hop sexist, or are its detractors simply anti-sex?  Hip Hops Wars explores the divisive, vitriolic debate about race and culture in America, concluding with a call for the revitalization of the progressive and creative heart of hip hop.

History of Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program

Established in 1980, the Honors Program was renamed the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program in 1992. A distinguished scholar, teacher, and Spelman graduate, Dr. Githii served as the director of the Honors Program from 1985 to 1990.
