The CPI steering committee met at the beginning of this academic year to plan and outline on-going CPI endeavors. The committee discussed feedback from the annual CPI June convening meeting and CPI summer activities, as well as received insight on CPI-related tech products. The retreat culminated with a roadmap of activities to be planned and accomplished during this academic year.
As the retreat was a success , members of the CPI team (Dr. Pavri, Dr. Dickens, Dr. Holmes, Dr. Williams, and Dr. Marshall) conducted a CPI presentation to over 150 Spelman Faculty at the Faculty Institute. The team further introduced CPI initiatives and discussed how those initiatives will start to impact various academic disciplines.
The busy month of August concluded with members of CPI team (Dr. Pavri, Dr. Dickens, Harold Bell, and Desjane’ Venable) introducing the Career Pathways Initiative to incoming freshmen class of 2021 at the New Student Orientation with games and question and answer segments. The CPI team engaged over 400 freshman with the theme of embracing career pathways through academics and explaining the initiative as a process that is iterative and continues across the professional life span.
